When I first heard about this product from my friends on Xbox Live, I was very interested, as that I was not a amazing at the current most popular shooter game, Modern Warfare 2. I checked out the website, kontrolfreek.com, I was first impressed with the promise they have held. Faster Reflexes, Higher Sensitivity, and Higher Kill Rates. What could go wrong, right? On the other upside, the price was also very impressive. For a set of these, it only costs 9.99 without shipping. Figuring that if I did not like them, it would only be 10 dollars, and it would be okay. FPS Freeks also fit on PS3 controllers, for you PS3 fanboys and girls.

I first received these babies after only a few days of ordering them during the week. Exactly what this product is, is two clip on analog sticks to clip on the existing ones. “FPS Freek extends the length of your analog stick, increasing your range of motion, giving you 40% more linear distance from full stop to stop.This gives you more leverage and increased control without disturbing your natural gaming feel. FPS Freek will help you to aim and lock in on your target faster, while putting less strain on your finger. ” As stated on their website. This product really does just that.

FPS Freeks greatly improved my game play by pretty much 100%. They took a few days of playing to get used to, but after that I was playing like a pro. Pretty much. Better than I’ve ever done, lets just say that. Before FPS Freeks, I’d average in a 4:12 KD ratio. Now, I average a 12:8 KD ratio. This product really worked for me, but it might not work for just anyone. Many people who play with these have said that it really helped them with sniping and such, but with me, I couldn’t snipe to save my life, and this is still the case with or without the FPS Freeks.

Overall, I really love this product, and I support them completely. I also recommend this to anyone, whether your a 360 kid, or a PS3 fanboy/girl.

The first batch of downloadable multiplayer maps for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will hit the Xbox 360 on March 30, 2010.

Developer Infinity Ward revealed the date today with a satirical self-help site, noting that the Xbox Live download should help ease the symptoms of Mapathy: “a state of indifference to the same old maps on has been playing for the last several months.”

The release dates for PS3 and PC are unknown currently.

In a Japanese press release, Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy XIII has shipped 5 million copies worldwide. Surprisingly, 3 million of those copies were shipped outside of Japan. Of course, Square Enix isn’t saying how many of those copies have been sold, so bear that in mind when marveling over these impressive numbers.

These 5 million XIIIs, according to the release, bring the total number of shipped games in the Final Fantasy series up to 96 million.

March 18 will mark the release of the first downloadable content for Aliens vs Predator, Sega has announced.

Consisting of four multiplayer/survivor maps — Docks, Machine, Outpost, Hive — previously only available to those who picked up the one of the game’s Special Editions, the Swarm Map Pack will arrive on Xbox Live, PlayStation Network and Steam with price tags of $6.99/€5.99/£4.79/560 Microsoft Points.

Two new multiplayer maps are for six different modes (Deathmatch, Predator Hunt, Infestation, Species Deathmatch, Mixed Species Deathmatch and Domination) :

Two new Survivor maps in which up to four Marines battle to stay alive against increasing swarms of Aliens:

• Outpost: The site of the original Weyland-Yutani colony on BG-386 was abandoned, and soon reclaimed by the planet’s voracious jungle plant life. It is now the perfect hunting ground for all manner of wildlife.

Hive: Deep in the heart of the Freya’s Prospect Refinery lays the Xenomorph Hive. Beware all who enter here.

Docks: The caustic alkali waters of BG-386 put an end to Weyland-Yutani’s planned shipping activities. But this dockyard soon became an historic battleground.

Machine:  As well as processing exotic ores, the BG-386 Refinery provided electrical power to the colonists at Freya’s Prospect. The lights may still be on, but nobody’s home. Yet.

Our Xbox Live dashboard is going to be a little more zombified later this month, according to the latest issue of OXM. With the release of The Passing, Valve’s first DLC offering for Left 4 Dead 2, slated for late March, the company is also planning on distributing a digital comic via Xbox Live around the same time.

The yet unnamed digital publication will create the link between the original Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, and the aforementioned DLC that occurs between the Dead Center and Dark Carnival episodes of the zombie apocalypse sequel. We cannot wait to see how Valve manages to bring the original survivors from their urban environment to the southern hospitality of the bayou.

Valve has made its support for the Mac official. Starting with the releases of Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike, Portal, and the Half-Life series, both Steam and the Source engine will be fully compatible with Macs starting next month.

In addition, Valve is introducing a new feature, called Steam Play, “which allows customers who purchase the product for the Mac or Windows to play on the other platform free of charge,” explains Jason Holtman, Director of Business Development at Valve. “For example, Steam Play, in combination with the Steam Cloud, allows a gamer playing on their work PC to go home and pick up playing the same game at the same point on their home Mac.” Valve expects most developers and publishers to take advantage of this.

According to Director of Steam Development John Cook, Valve is treating the Mac as “a tier-1 platform” and will be releasing all of their future titles, including Portal 2, simultaneously on Windows, Mac, and the Xbox 360.

“Furthermore, Mac and Windows players will be part of the same multiplayer universe, sharing servers, lobbies, and so forth.”

Why Valve, why. Why give little hipsters awesome games? They can always just stick to solitaire.

Xbox.com has listed several new games as Platinum Hits, including Fable II (aka Game of the Year Edition), Halo Wars, Left 4 Dead, The Orange Box, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Ninja Gaiden II, Kung-Fu Panda, Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Sonic Unleashed.

A Microsoft PR agent couldn’t confirm the full list of new Platinum Hits (are we missing any above?), but said that if a game is listed as such on Xbox.com, it’s a Platinum Hits title. The changes seem to have taken effect on major retailer sites, as GameStop and Amazon now reflect the discounted Platinum prices (if not always the the Platinum Hits branding), which range from $20–30.

With Orange Box requiring only one Jackson ($20), it’s now literally a crime to not own it. Conversely, if you’re dead-set on committing a crime, buy someone Sonic The Hedgehog or Sonic Unleashed at $20 each.

Unsurprisingly, Ubisoft is targeting its new, multiplayer-enhanced Assassin’s Creed game at the six million of us who bought Assassin’s Creed 2. An Ubisoft rep told CVG that the new game will “take place with the same hero, which is Ezio, and will follow-up the story that took place in Assassin’s Creed 2.”

This, combined with the new multiplayer, makes us believe that the new game will be a spin-off and not Assassin’s Creed 3 — since, presumably, a full-on sequel would highlight a new assassin and a new time period. Oh, and if you were worried that you weren’t going to be able to pay $60 for it, you can rest easy: CEO Yves Guillemot said that the game will be sold at a “full price point”.

NPD released a full-year list of the top ten U.S retail console games by units, a list heavily dominated by Nintendo. The publisher was responsible for seven of the top ten titles for the year, six of which were released for Wii.

But the year-end number one seller was the Xbox 360 version of Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, whose PlayStation 3 counterpart also made the list at number 8.

“Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the fourth best-selling game of all time. In fact, 3 of the top 10 games of all time are Call of Duty games,” Frazier pointed out.

Are you itching to get your hands on Rebellion’s upcoming shooter Aliens vs. Predator? Have you been dreaming of mouths within mouths, mouths that open sideways and regular human mouths screaming in terror? If so, you might want to see a therapist. You might also consider picking up Aliens vs. Predator Classic 2000, the PC AvP title created by Rebellion aeons ago. The game is now available on Steam for the rock-bottom price of $4.99. It includes both the Gold edition and the Millennium expansion pack, and it supports the Xbox 360 controller for PC, so even the young’uns can appreciate it. The one thing it does not currently support is multiplayer, though Big Download notes that support will be added in a future patch.
